ON behalf of all of the Worcester Warriors players, I'd like to say a massive thank you to our amazing fans.

The support we've had throughout this season has been fantastic and, at the European Challenge Cup final, it was as if there was only one set of fans there.

We might not have won the cup, but we certainly had the best fans and the atmosphere was brilliant. Our supporters are a big part of what we are about and they should not be underestimated - they have been magnificent.

The final was an exceptional occasion and that was typified by our support, which was also exceptional - I've hardly ever heard anything like that throughout my career.

We were pleased with our late-season form, but that was not a reflection of what this side can do. We can do better again - the margins are so small so we need to pay attention to every detail.

Each and every person in the squad needs to do that so we are consistent throughout and that can make the difference.

We probably had far too many players in the squad at the beginning of the season but now we are much more competitive.

Mike Ruddock knows what he wants - to build a squad which he is happy with. Finding the right people takes time rather than just bringing in people to make up the numbers.

In terms of numbers, we need late 30s to be competitive in league and cup competitions. The demands placed on players in this league are huge and there will definitely be a few injuries, so we need strength in depth in every position.

There needs to be quality players in the squad to come into the first team when needed if we want to move forward.

In terms of my Worcester player-of-the-year, it is a close call because there have been some massive performances.

It is difficult to look past Thinus Delport, while Shane Drahm and Miles Benjamin were massive in the second-half of the season.

Kai Horstmann was ultra-consistent in the back row, while Greg Rawlinson and Sammy Tuitupou had massive impacts when they came in. Then, in his own way, Matt Mullan has done really well whenever he's played.

It would have been fantastic to have been involved in the Heineken Cup, as that is where we all want to be as players. But, if there is a positive, not having qualified allows us to concentrate on our next Guinness Premiership campaign.

If we can play like we did in the second-half of this season from the beginning of next year, it is possible we could be right up there.

We launched our new kit this week. It is important the Warriors brand moves forward along with the team.

I'll have a few days off now - my wife had a little girl yesterday and that'll keep me busy for a few days.

But I hate doing nothing, so will be back training again next week and preparing for the coming season.
