FORMER Worcester Warriors centre Ollie Lawrence has opened up on the distressing few months at his old club that eventually saw him have to leave for pastures new.

The England centre is now starting and shining for an on-the-up Bath side but was speaking about Warriors ahead of the game with Leicester Tigers on Friday evening.

"It's difficult to put it all into words, it was an emotional time for a lot of us boys at the club," he admitted.

"We had all been part of Warriors for a long time. My family has had ties to the club there, from watching me come through the academy to the first team so it was a real sad feeling and something that none of us saw coming.

"Just before the Newcastle game, we were told we were likely to be suspended on the Monday so going into that game we knew it was going to be our last.

"I remember it being a tough day. I went into the club that day knowing it was going to be the last and made sure to take it all in."

Worcester were placed into administration at the end of September and subsequently suspended from the Gallagher Premiership.

They have since been relegated to The Championship for next season providing they can find a new buyer to run the club.

Lawrence recalls the "sour taste" left by the previous ownership of Jason Whittingham and Colin Goldring.

"The way they came out and said it was the fans and players fault for the financial issues has left a sour taste," he added.

"I don't think I can ever forgive the owners for what they did.

"We were all looking forward to the season and we felt that we could build towards something and that was taken from us. It made me realise rugby can be taken from you at any point.

"We hadn't seen them (Whittingham and Goldring) for months and we were going out to perform for them and then it was all taken from us due to poor management."
