THE new Worcester City era under Chris Cornes started with a chaotic late defeat as Whitchurch Alport edged a nine goal thriller in the Midland Football League Premier.

Dylan Hart's debut goal put City ahead and Taylor-Randle's brilliant half-volley extended their lead before James Rowland pulled one back late in the first-half.

The second period was barely a minute old when Hart made it 3-1 with a composed finish but two goals in three minutes from Sam Yeardley and Alex Hughes pulled Whitchurch level in the 50th minute.

Worcester re-took the lead seven minutes later when Taylor-Randle's cross found the bottom corner but Cornes' side could not hold on as Jordan Evans scored twice in the final ten minutes to steal all three points from a pulsating 90 minutes.

Having had his first game delayed for two weeks, Cornes finally took to the touchline on Saturday for the first time in the City colours.

New signings Dylan Hart, Connor Jakeways, Jordan Stoddart and Alex Worley all started from the outset and it was the striker signed from Bewdley that got City off the mark.

Hart poked home from close range in the 16th minute after Bailey Fuller had kept the ball in play to give Cornes' men the dream start.

But it was to get better in the 22nd minute as a super half-volley from the impressive Taylor-Randle made it 2-0 to the visitors.

Having been shocked early doors, the hosts did settle and found a way back into the game when Rowland's low strike from the edge of the box found the corner of Adam Harrison's net.

It remained 2-1 at the interval but both sides flew out of the blocks at the start of the second half.

Not even 60 seconds had been played when Taylor-Randle played Hart in behind the Alport defence and the deadly striker was never going to miss and all of a sudden it was 3-1.

But the lead did not last long as Yeardley's brilliant strike pulled one back and a long ball over the top enabled Hughes to level it up at 3-3.

It looked like it would be a goal every time either side went forward but it was a rather fortuitous fourth for City as Taylor-Randle's ball into the six yard box seemed to beat everyone before nestling into the bottom corner.

Both sides had chances to score more but City were undone with ten minutes to play as Evans' deflected strike bobbled in off the post and over the line.

It looked like the sides would be sharing the point but Evans struck in stoppage time to head home the winner.
