WORCESTER City Women have been working hard to recruit the quality needed to maintain their title push this season.

In the last two weeks, three new players have joined the squad, including a midfielder who has gained Champions League experience in the last couple of years.

Laura Davies had had spells with both West Bromwich Albion and Wolves throughout her career but was part of a Swansea City side who were involved in Champions League qualifiers earlier this year.

Davies went to the University of Worcester so is a regular in these parts and is now thrilled to be working under Executive Director at the club, Nicole Allison.

"After speaking with Nicole, it was clear that there was a plan to develop the club in the right way," said Davies.

"A lot of people will focus on what happens on the pitch, but to have everything in place off it is the biggest challenge, and that's what drew me to the club.

"Chatting and meeting with Matt (First Team Manager), confirmed everything Nicole had spoken about and that was also reflected in the league game I came to watch against Coundon Court.

"The girls have been really welcoming, there's a lot of talent and it's a positive environment to be a part of.

"I'm more than happy to be involved in it and feel as though it was the right decision to join Worcester City Women.

"I'm looking forward to enjoying my football again, as it has been a while now since I played. I will work hard with the group to challenge for the league title, that's the aim, and it's more than possible if we keep doing the right things on and off the pitch."

City have also brought in two new faces over the last few days, with promotion still very much the aim.

Worcester sit second in the West Midlands Regional Women's Football League Premier Division, a point behind leaders Kidderminster Harriers.

With that in mind, they have focussed on experience and Zoe Pygott has been added to the squad.

"My first impressions are fantastic, the club is so welcoming, and every single player has been nothing but warm, kind, and friendly towards me," she added.

"It’s safe to say I am lucky to be a part of the team and I look forward to my journey here. I think I can bring experience, a positive attitude, and the want to play well."

But it's not just experience they are after, they have brought in some youth in the form of goalkeeper Sofia Stolt.

"Every single player and support staff member have been amazing throughout," she said.

"They are very approachable and will support the team as a whole, as well as individuals. I think I will bring lots of confidence building from the back as I am always happy to receive the ball from defence.

"I have good distribution as well as good shot stopping ability. I’m looking forward to building good relationships with everyone along the way. "
