THE departure of goalkeeper Adam Harrison has left Worcester City boss Chris Cornes with a bit of work to do in the non-league transfer market.

Redditch United snapped up the City shot-stopper on Monday leaving Cornes without a senior keeper in this squad.

Youth team number one Dominic Hill was training with the squad ahead of the 5-4 defeat at Whitchurch Alport in their last game but has not featured for the senior team.

The youngster did win player of the year for the under-18 side last season but it would be a big ask to throw him straight into the squad this weekend, should Saturday's match at Market Drayton Town go ahead.

You would assume that Cornes is in the market for a new number one and attention will turn to who is available.

Cornes could look at someone who did so well under him during his time at Worcester Raiders in Matthew Gwynne.

The larger than life character moved to Hereford Pegasus last season following Cornes' sacking at Raiders and was a good friend of the now City boss.

Gwynne earned promotion with Pegasus to Step 5 last season after beating former club Raiders in the play-off final. He has missed the last few week due to injury, however.

Cornes has already brought back former players to City in the form of Dylan Hart, Jordan Stoddart, Kyonn Evans and Connor Jakeways, so a move for Gwynne should not be ruled out.

Whilst he would be the favourite, you would assume Cornes has his eyes on the other local keepers.

There are a number of high-quality options across Worcestershire including the likes of Pershore Town's Eddie Cox, Malvern Town's Keiron Blackburn or even Bewdley Town's Haydn Whitcombe.

But with Pershore and Malvern doing particularly well, you would think those moves are very unlikely.
