Defeat at relegation rivals Wolverhampton Casuals on Saturday will see Worcester City drop into the bottom two in the Midland Football League Premier.

City sit above the dropzone and second-bottom Casuals by virtue of goal difference only, and with City having played two more than this weekend's opponents, it looks set to be a crunch six-pointer at Brinsford Lane.

Chris Cornes' has lost all four of his games in charge so far since arriving in November and will be desperate for his side to ease the fears of relegation with a win that would give everyone at the club a much needed boost.

But he remains confident that the wins will eventually come and that talk of going down will be a thing of the past in weeks to come.

"Whether this appeases the fans or not, I am not worried about relegation," he said after the last defeat at Highgate United.

"We have more than enough here and what we will have coming in over the next week or two, to get away from the bottom. I have been in a dogfight before and we have much more here at our disposal to get out, we just need that first win.’

The trip to Wolverhampton kick-starts a pivotal few weeks of the season for Worcester with games against those sides in and around trouble at the bottom of the table.

After their clash at Cassies, City head to bottom side Market Drayton Town on Monday before games with Bewdley Town, Studley and a home reverse with Casuals to start off February.

It could well be a period that defines the sort of season City are going to have; pushing up the table and finishing strongly or flirting with dropping down to Step 6 for the first time in their history.

And they will have to play the next few games without star striker Dylan Hart, who is set to finally start his three-match suspension after the recent postponements.

He is out of action due to the red card he received in the closing stages of the 3-1 defeat at Lichfield City at the start of the year.

That decision was appealed by the club but they were unsuccessful with that and the suspension was upheld.

But Cornes has brought in former Evesham man Lorcan Sheehan since City's defeat at Highgate and he could make his debut at Brinsford Lane.
