WORCESTER City romped into the semi-finals of the Worcestershire FA Women's Sunday County Cup after they scored 13 goals in their demolition of Kingfisher FC at Claines Lane on Sunday.

Despite their dominance, City were only three goals up at the break thanks to goals from Olivia Mitcham, captain Jessica Fassnidge and Holly Rogers' first of four on the day.

But the floodgates were well and truly opened after the break and Worcester scored at will, with ten goals scored in a ruthless second-half display.

Mitcham scored her second to make it four within seconds of the restart before Rogers added three herself to make it 7-0, and then Leah Ritson, Jennifer Higgs, Freya Harrad and Kerstin Ballard all got themselves on the score sheet to complete the rout.

It means City progress to face Kidderminster Harriers Ladies in the semi-finals, where the winner will face the winner of Bromsgrove Sporting Ladies Development and Redditch Borough Firsts in the final.

After the match, manager Matt Lock admitted it was a near perfect afternoon.

"It has been a long time since we have played competitive football and I am really happy with how it went out there," he said.

"I think the last competitive match we had was pre-Christmas and due to that, the girls have picked up a bit of boredom so to get back out there today (Sunday) it was really pleasing.

"We did not really know what to expect from the game but to go out there and score thirteen goals is really positive. In front of goal we were ruthless. We stamped our authority on the game early on and we got our rewards.

"Now we move on to Kidderminster in the next round. They are doing really well and are a really good football club.

"Games between us have always been extremely competitive and hard fought so we will have to be on it from the start to reach the final."
