Manager Chris Cornes admits there are few better at playing the 'old-fashioned number nine' role as well as his current striker Kyonn Evans.

Evans scored the winner for Worcester City at Bewdley Town on Saturday against his old club, whom he left for City when Cornes became manager in November.

It was the first goal for Evans in his second spell at the club and after the game, his manager was full of praise.

"He worked so hard today (Saturday). He has been terrific for us in the last two games," said Cornes.

"When he's bang at it, there are not many who play that old-fashioned number nine role as well as Kyonn.

"I am so glad he got the goal because over the last week he has deserved one. In recent games he has had the chance to pull the trigger and not quite done it.

"It was hard work for him at times in both games on tricky pitches but he's done brilliantly well and obviously got the winner on Saturday. Another fantastic performance."

Evans admitted the winner had an element of fortune about it but he was in no mood to complain as it was his goal that took City six points clear of the relegation zone.

"That's the first goal, it fell nicely to me," he said.

"It was a bit of a swing to be honest but I am really happy with it and pleased it brought us the three points, which is the main thing.

"I thought the boys dug deep and throughout the 90 we definitely deserved it.

"I certainly felt it in the last 15. The ball was bobbling off me and it was frustrating but the last two games I have enjoyed being up there with some of the boys playing off me.

"It's good to get a bit of a run together in the last week."
