Worcester City Women are out of the Worcestershire FA County Cup after losing to holders Kidderminster Harriers 7-6 on penalties in the semi-final.

In a tight contest between last season’s finalists, the score remained goalless at full-time, as Kidderminster took full advantage in a penalty shoot-out as they managed to secure back-to-back County Cup final appearances.

City started the shoot-out strong as they netted their first two, however a couple of misses afterwards took the drama to sudden death, where after multiple spot kicks, the hosts clinched it.

It was visibly a hard one to come to terms with for the Worcester players but manager Matt Lock was full of priase for his side.

"It's a tough one to take, it always is when it comes down to penalties," said Lock.

"I thought we actually controlled the game really well, especially in the second-half. We were good on the ball, we were first to those second balls. I thought that was some of the best football we have played all year.

"But when you dont take your chances, it's always risky, you have to take them.

"The pitch was challenging but we did our stuff well. Some of our possession in the second half was the best it's been and a lot of what we have been working on in training came off.

"But to then lose on penalties, it's never easy but this will only make us stronger.

"I couldn't be prouder of the girls. It's a great one to use for us to push on, I have no doubt there will be plenty of positives to take from that."
