PERSHORE Town beat Step 5 Longlevens AFC 4-1 to book their spot in the Wiseman Lighting Floodlit Cup final, their fourth cup final in just two seasons.

James Baldwin and Aidan Clark had given underdogs Pershore a 2-0 lead before Longlevens' Jordan Alderman pulled one back on the stroke of half-time.

Beating teams from leagues above has become a trademark for The Plums in recent times and they did it again here as second-half goals from James Clarke and Scott Hammond wrapped up a convincing win.

Danny Janes' side will now face Mangotsfield United in the final in a two-legged contest in March.

At points this season, boss Janes has criticised his side for letting their standards slip but he was full of praise on Wednesday night.

"We are delighted to progress to our first Cup Final of the season," said Janes.

"We were by far the better team I felt, if the players were more clinical in the final third in the first half the game could have been wrapped up at half-time.

"2-0 is always a dangerous score line and a mistake leads to them getting back in the game.

"The attitude of the players was nothing short of outstanding. The standards are high, they are challenged constantly by the Management Team and there were a lot of elements to the performance we spoke about at half-time that needed to be better.

"I am also aware they have just rolled a team from the league above 4-1 away from home, they deserve so much credit for the results they continue to produce.

"The travelling support was yet again fantastic. It is great to see so many Pershore fans coming out and supporting the team, we are so grateful."

Pershore return to league action this weekend when they will look to keep their lead at the top of the Hellenic League Division One table.

They host Kidlington Reserves at the Community Stadium at 3PM.
