Pershore were made to settle for a point away at Milton United.

The Plums led twice in a game that saw first take on third in the Hellenic League Division One.

With wind ripping across the pitch, neither side were at their best but it certainly seemed like the home side were the one more likely to snatch all three points.

As such, Pershore boss Danny Janes was pleased to come away with something to show for their efforts.

He said: "It wasn't a great game, and that was simply down to the conditions with the wind.

"The game was all about who could play and handle the conditions the most effectively.

"Milton played the conditions superbly and looked a real threat. I have to be honest and say that Milton deserved to win based on the chances they created, we rode our luck massively.

"We will take the point, Milton needed to win today and our consistent work over the season put us in the position to accept a point.

"Thank you to those who travelled with us today as I can imagine it was a difficult watch, it was even more difficult for the players to play in those conditions."

Jordan Adams gave Pershore the lead just shy of midway through the first half.

Having soaked up a lot of pressure, the Plums were able to make the most of a set-piece opportunity as Jake Donnelly’s throw-in found its way to Adams to tuck it home low.

Milton equalised just a few minutes later with an effort that delighted the 205 in attendance.

A cross from the left flank flew over the box before being volleyed in by striker Louis Joyce from what seemed an impossible angle.

Pershore regained the lead before the close of the first half, this time courtesy of James Baldwin.

An initial corner led to nothing, aside from a few claims for handball, before being played back out to Jordan Jones who sent another cross towards the back post.

On this occasion, Baldwin’s looping header found its way over the keeper and into the net to give the visitors a 2-1 advantage going into the break.

There was just one goal after the interval, a Milton equaliser on the 50-minute mark.

With a determined run down the right side following a Pershore corner attempt, the ball eventually found its way to Joyce who finished comfortably to level the game.

The result leaves Pershore on 83 points, four ahead of second-placed Hartpury University and nine ahead of Monday’s opposition.

Reflecting on the performance, coach Janes said: "First half we soaked up a lot of pressure, we couldn't really get out of our half and the game had no pattern.

"The players battled really well and when we did get a couple of opportunities, we took them and we come in at half-time 2-1.

"We spoke at half-time around that although we had braved the conditions and potentially got through the more difficult 45 minutes, Milton would come at us and we needed to match them.

"We simply didn't do enough in the second half in terms of our attacking play, as a team we didn't use the ball well enough and lacked quality when we got into good areas.”
