BROMSGROVE Sporting have confirmed that former Worcester City captain Aaron Roberts will rejoin the club having departed Claines Lane last week.

Fan-favourite Roberts announced on Twitter that he would be leaving City after four years with the club last week, having joined from Bromsgrove back in 2019.

Sporting confirmed the signature of their record-appearance maker on Thursday afternoon.

He said: "I am absolutely buzzing to be back. The ride I have previously been on with the club during the most successful period of its journey so far bring me the best memories I've had in football," he said on his return.

"The fan base and I have always had a great relationship and having left in a way that felt like unfinished business, I want to be part of the new era in a league that's stacked full of big matches which will entice big crowds to join us.

"I can't wait to get back to the VG and show my best for the club. It's time to get a feel good factor around the club again.

"As a club we should be aiming for those top positions. The ground and fan potential makes us one of the biggest in the league, it's just a case of getting the club united again and seeing where that takes us in a very competitive division. It's a pleasure to be back!"

His departure from City last week did come as a bit of a shock to most, but given that the club are preparing to enter a new era, there was perhaps an air of inevitability about the announcement.

Roberts will jump from Step 5 with City to Step 3 with Sporting, but given his experience at the level, he looks to be a bit of good business for The Rouslers.
