WORCESTER City have retained the services of goal-keeper Haydn Whitcombe for the 2023/24 Hellenic League Premier season.
Manager Chris Cornes looks to be closing in on completing his squad for the season that is now just a month away.
Pre-season begins this Saturday for City, who play New Dales Vale away from home (3PM kick-off) and keeper Whitcombe joins the squad for the start of a busy month of friendlies.
The stopper joined the club in January, making his debut in a 2-0 win away at Market Drayton which started a three-win streak in an important run that ultimately eased relegation fears last season.
On retaining his keeper, manager Chris Cornes said: "Im pleased Haydn has decided to re-sign for the club. He’s a brilliant keeper with a wealth of experience and that’s hard to find these days. He’s a big imposing figure who commands his box so well.
"Which, with the new defensive signings, I’m hoping we can be more consistent and better at defending our goal."
Whitcombe added: "After playing for Chris for over a year now and having a chat about his plans it was an easy decision to be part of this club for the upcoming season with a lot of exciting things happening on and off the field.
"I can’t wait to get a pre-season under my belt and get ready for the season."
