MIDFIELDER Lorcan Sheehan has become the latest member to commit to the Worcester City squad for next season.

Sheehan, who joined the club back in January from Bishops Cleeve, played an instrumental role in stabilising the season for City, bringing a wealth of experience to a young side.

The former Evesham United man often filled in at centre-half when the likes of Jordan Stoddart was suspended and Aaron Roberts broke his foot.

He made his debut in the 2-0 away win at Market Drayton Town, which began a stretch of three wins on the trot for City, a run that ultimately eased relegation fears.

"I’m happy that Lorcan has re-signed. At times last season, his experience was invaluable and he was a big part of the winning run we went on," said manager Chris Cornes.

"He had a couple of niggly injuries towards the end of the season, but I’m hoping with a full pre-season, his game management and communication skills will be a big part of what we are trying to achieve on the pitch."

Sheehan will be part of an experienced squad for the 2023/24 campaign after the rebuild at City this summer.

Cornes has recruited a number of established non-league players in key positions, as well as retaining some of the young talent that has been produced by the club.

And now Sheehan is looking forward to being a part of it all.

"Worcester is a big club with a great fan base who always turn out in their numbers home and away!" he said.

"I’m looking forward to a successful season with the squad the gaffer has put together."
