MALVERN Town were beaten 4-2 by travelling side Mousehole in the Isuzu FA Trophy.

After Keiron Blackburn was alert to clear long outside his area, Jack Watts got hold of the ball out wide and his cross was just too high for Ben Hayes in the middle.

A free-kick in a promising position from Alex Bell was deflected just wide and from the resulting corner, which the visitors had to scramble clear.

The visitors’ first chance saw Mitchell go close and then Bissett have a low effort saved.

Malvern then had a let-off when Bray-Evans did well out wide before his cross was fired over from in front of goal by Bissett before a cross-come-shot from Mitchell had to be pushed away by Blackburn.

The visitors took the lead just past the half-hour mark when Bray-Evans curled home.

As The Hillsiders looked to hit back, a foul on Hayes gave them a free-kick just outside the area which Bell fired over.

With the clock ticking down at the end of the opening period, Blackburn got down well to deny Lewis as he broke into the area as we went in at the break a goal behind.

It didn’t take the visitors long after the restart to double their advantage as a neat move ended with Turner slotting home.

The Hillsiders were handed a lifeline when Hayes was brought down inside the area for a penalty which Watts converted on 53 minutes.

Malvern went on to level on the hour when Lewis Platt did well in the build-up and Watts had the initial effort, as Cornishman Annear tucked home. Moments later, Annear had another effort well saved.

Some good link-up play between Levi Francis and Annear saw the latter denied by a block from the ‘keeper as an acrobatic effort from Davies from the resulting corner was also saved.

The visitors were handed the lead with ten minutes to go with an own goal from Luke Payne.

Despite pushing for an equaliser, Bissett was able to beat the offside trap and settle the tie to make it 4-2.

The game had an attendance of 298.
