Severn Stars’ head coach Jo Trip says the netball franchise is looking to build on last year’s success with a new squad for the 2024 season.

The side has retained a number of key faces from the last campaign, as well as picking up some exciting new signings.

Trip said: “My intention was to build on the success of last season, maintaining numerous players from our 22/23 squad and introducing a few new faces that I believe will help us to be more competitive.

“Some really tough decisions were made as I looked to bring in some new faces that I believe can help us play the structures I am wanting Stars to play this season.

“We are a highly versatile, adaptable squad with great depth across positions.”

Shooter Sigi Burger, who has played in the Superleague since 2018 and represented South Africa in the 2018 Commonwealth Games and the 2019 World Cup, returns to Stars for a second season.

Fellow South African international Lefébre Rademan, who was a reserve for the World Cup in South Africa and played in last year’s Commonwealth Games, joins her in the shooting circle at goal attack.

Also joining the shooting line-up is former Wales international Betsy Creak, who has played for Team Bath for the past few seasons.

Suzie Liverseidge joins the attacking line-up from Loughborough Lightning, having played at Under 17, Under 19 and Under 21 level for England.

In mid-court, Stars welcome back experienced Superleague player Gabby Marshall and fellow returner Jess Shaw.

Ash Dekker joins Stars in the mid-court from London Pulse having spent the summer training in Loughborough in the England Futures Programme.

Also bolstering Stars’ mid-court is Niamh Cooper, formerly of Surrey Storm, who has 50 plus caps for Northern Ireland.

Defensively, Rebekah Airey, who has represented England at Under 21 level, returns to Stars for her second season.

Former Stars defender Ella Powell-Davies, returns to Worcester after a few years away.

Goalkeeper Jasmine Brown will be looking to repeat her success of last season and completing the defensive line-up is Trip, who will take on a dual role as she did last year.

Training partners for this year are shooter Lily Smith, mid-courter Ruth Hughes and defender Jess Haynes.

The new squad will return to training in October, in preparation for the season to start in the New Year.
