A NUMBER of Worcester Warriors Womens players will be competing at the inaugural WVX tournament at the end of October. 

The competition, a three-tier global tournament taking place in New Zealand, South Africa and Dubai, will see the best countries in the world game going head-to-head.

In each tier, there is two groups of three teams, with each country playing three games.

WXV 1: Wales, England, New Zealand, France, Canada and Australia

WXV 2: Scotland, Japan, Italy, USA, South Africa, Samoa

WXV 3: Fiji, Colombia, Ireland, Kazakhstan, Spain, Kenya

And Worcester will be represented across both WXV 1 and 2, with players featuring for the likes of Wales, Canada and Japan. 

Fly-half Minori Yamamoto has been picked by Japan, whilst the trio of Carys Phillips, Alex Callender and Carys Cox are on the plane for Wales.Paige Farries will be hoping to shine on the big stage for Canada. 

Scotland have selected Caity Mattinson, Lana Skeldon, Demi Swann, Evie Gallagher and Lisa Cockburn.

But before the competition takes place, there are still a number of Warriors games to be played in the Allianz Cup.

Worcester beat Leicester Tigers Women last weekend in Group A, after losing their opener at Sixways to Exeter Chiefs Women.
