THE Football Association have confirmed that the re-arranged FA Vase third-round tie between Worcester City and Boston Town will be reversed if the game is postponed for a second time this weekend.

City are due to host Boston at Claines Lane on Saturday after the original tie was postponed last week due to a frozen pitch, but further rain this week has thrown the game into doubt for a second time.

Due to FA rules, the game will be reversed and played at Boston if the match on Saturday is unable to go ahead. The FA request that any pitch inspection takes place "as late as possible but arranged at a time to avoid unnecessary travel and expenses having to be incurred."

In an email sent out to all clubs participating in the third-round of the Isuzu FA Vase, the FA confirmed that: "if a fixture is further postponed this weekend, it will be reversed by The FA and ordered to be played at the venue of the away Club on Saturday 16 December, in accordance with Competition Rules 11(a)(v) below;

11. RESCHEDULED, POSTPONED AND ABANDONED MATCHES (MATCHES PLAYED PRIOR TO THE SEMI FINAL)

(a)(v) If a postponed or rescheduled match is further postponed, or if one or both Clubs are not able or willing to compete in a match within the Postponement Window, the National Game Board shall take such action as it deems appropriate (in its absolute discretion).

The forecast for the rest of the week shows heavy rain scheduled throughout the afternoon on Thursday, December 7 and more rain on Saturday morning, with Friday relatively dry.

The Worcester News will update readers on the situation as and when it develops.
