SIX Worcestershire captains spanning more than six decades will help long-serving all-rounder Joe Leach officially launch his 2024 testimonial year at New Road.
Norman Gifford, Phil Neale, Tim Curtis, Daryl Mitchell, Leach himself and current captain, Brett D’Oliveira, will reminisce about their times in charge from the 1970s to the 2020s at a Gala Dinner at New Road on Friday, February 9 (7.30 start).
Giffford played in three Championship winning sides, Neale skippered Worcestershire to six trophies in five years, Curtis led the Pears to the 1994 NatWest Trophy triumph and Mitchell, Leach and D’Oliveira have all captained teams to promotion.
Leach has been a key member of the Worcestershire side for the past 10 years, finishing as leading wicket-taker on six occasions, and has to date 450 first class wickets to his name.
Tickets are priced £60 each or £550 for a table of ten and can be obtained via the Worcestershire CCC website or by contacting testimonial secretary John Curtis at jcjourno1@outlook.com
It will be followed on February 21 by an evening with Wolves legend Steve Bull and ex keeper Matt Murray entitled ‘The Loyalty Lads’ at the Cleveland Arms Sports Bar, Stowheath Lane, Wolverhampton (8pm start).
Leach is a staunch Wolves fan and in 2017 paraded the County Championship Division Two trophy around Molineux at half-time during the game with Leeds United.
Tickets are available direct from the venue priced £30 VIP, including meet and greet, and £15 standard.
