WORCESTER Athletic Club women are celebrating promotion into Division 1 of the Midland Women’s Cross Country League.
The team produced some excellent performances in the final Division 2 race at the Holt Heath University Campus near Worcester. Both their Senior and Master teams finished in silver position with an impressive five runners finishing in the top 30, led by Emma Robertson in fifth place, out of a field of over 200.
News of their promotion spread to the Senior men’s team competing in Division 1 of the Birmingham Cross Country League in Northampton, who secured 7th place overall in the region’s top league.
Next season the club’s men and women will compete at the same venues against the best clubs and universities in the whole of the Midlands, much to the joy of all the runners, team managers, coaches and officials.
The full results of all the members in the final race of the season are as follows: 5th Emma Robertson, 11th Nixie Turner, 16th Sally Russell, 17th Issy Jeavons, 28th Sarah Paterson, 44th Cat Hutchison, 77th Karen Holland, 123rd Gill Jubb, 168th Maggie Crosswell.
