The former West Brom and Kidderminster centre-half is caretaker manager after boss Duane Darby was axed by the British Gas Business Division One Midlands side.

Rovers head to West Midlands League minnows Ellesmere Rangers as hot favourites in the FA Cup preliminary round (3pm).

But a slip-up at the Shropshire club will put an end to any hope of a Rovers cash-spinning cup run and create further turmoil at the troubled Victoria Ground side.

The winners of the tie will go to either Sutton Coldfield Town or Cradley Town in the first qualifying round.

Rovers’ last match saw them fall 3-1 at home to title-chasing Leamington and signalled the end of Darby’s reign.

Chairman Tom Herbert has indicated Bromsgrove will be looking for an experienced replacement.

Meanwhile, Bromyard Town will be looking to return to full strength for Saturday’s big preliminary round tie with Barwell at Delahay Meadow (3pm).

They suffered a disappointing 2-0 West Midlands League Premier Division defeat in mid-week against Herefordshire rivals Ledbury.

Skipper Rob Woodward failed a late fitness test for that game, while Adam Overton returns tomorrow.

Squad: Knurick, Oliver, Rayner, McCullough, Grosvenor, Helme, Houghton, Woodward, Dew, McCarthy, Graham, Overton, Malcolm, Tippins, Long, Sheehan. Meet at club 1.30pm.

Westfields host Midland Alliance rivals Stratford Town in the preliminary round on a high after thrashing Racing Club Warwick 6-0 on Monday (3pm).

And Stourport Swifts head to Racing Club Warwick in the preliminary round, hoping to inflict more misery on the Alliance side (3pm).
