KIDDERMINSTER Harriers chairman Barry Norgrove is hoping the extension of the transfer window doesn’t mean he will lose one of the Aggborough club’s prized assets.

The transfer window was due to slam shut at midnight tomorrow, however, the Football Association managed to agree with FIFA to place an extra day as the closure fell on a Sunday.

But all that means for the Aggborough chief is an extra wait before finding out if any clubs will be making bids for England ‘C’ international Russ Penn.

The 22-year-old was subject of a bid from League One side Walsall earlier in the summer which was rejected by the Harriers.

“There were people watching Russ on Monday,” Norgrove said. “With the extra day added to the transfer window it means we are waiting anxiously.

“Hopefully we won’t get any offers between now and Monday.”

Meanwhile, Norgrove is hoping to tie up Keith Lowe on contract after the former Wolverhampton Wanderers defender signed non-contract terms last week.

Lowe, who won the Football League Trophy with Swansea City in 2006 during a loan spell, has a wealth of league experience having turned out for Wolves in the Championship and Cheltenham Town, Port Vale, Queen’s Park Rangers, Burnley and Swansea.

The 22-year-old can play at full-back or central defender.
