WORCESTER Nomads almost had their revenge for an early-season defeat by Worcester when they had the better of an intriguing Crusader Worcestershire League Division One derby.

Put into bat, Nomads dashed off in search of quick runs with Malcolm Jones playing shots all over the ground.

Worcester drew first blood, however, with Liam Weston trapping Olly Flower lbw for eight.

Tariq soon followed, caught by wicketkeeper Olly Peppiatt for 0, again off Weston.

Dean Oliver (24) joined Jones (32) and they put on 50 before the latter was removed by the Weston and Peppiatt combination.

James Padden bowled Oliver and Nomads were in trouble at 77-4 but Damon Gariff (66) and Liam O’Driscoll (45) put together an untroubled century partnership.

James Wagstaffe removed both and skipper Dannie Rees for 16.

Guy Davies (36) and Geoff Taylor (39 not out) continued to score freely against a flagging attack and took their team to a massive 301-9.

Weston finished with 4-59 and Wagstaffe 3-53.

In reply, Worcester were soon in trouble.

O’Driscoll picked up three quick wickets and Gariff one as the home team fell to 27-4.

Captain Dan Keyte (40) and Wagstaffe (29) went on the offensive but wickets fell steadily.

However, Worcester held out for a losing draw on 187-9.
