WORCESTER Wolves moved themselves into ninth position in the British Basketball League Championship table thanks to a convincing 107-87 victory over the PAWS London Capital at the University of Worcester.

The Wolves started the stronger and gained control of the game from the outset opening up an early 17-5 lead in the opening quarter.

They continued to dominate the early exchanges as an 11-1 close to the opening period gave them a 33-15 going into the second period.

Both sides traded baskets for the majority of the second period but the Capital couldn’t close the gap as the Wolves went into the locker room leading 66-35 at the half.

The second half saw the visitors attempt to get themselves back into the game and, a 10-4 tear towards the end of the third period, trimmed the deficit back to 25 points at 83-58.

The final stanza saw the Capital attempt to get themselves right back into the game but the Wolves enjoyed a 9-3 run midway through the final quarter to take the score out to 98-68.

The Capital valiantly continued to try and get back in touch, but an 18-7 tear to close out the game came too late as the Wolves ran out comfortable winners.

Anthony Paez led all scorers in the game with 23 points for the Wolves, while Marcus Knight led the Capital scoring with 20 points.
