WORCESTERSHIRE’S leading wicket-taker Chris Whelan is set to be offered a new contract.
The 23-year-old seamer has been subject to a 28-day approach from Championship Division Two outfit Kent.
However, with the first set of New Road player reviews set to take place some time next month, director of cricket Steve Rhodes says the former Middlesex bowler, who is out of contract at the end of the campaign, is likely to be given a deal to stay with Worcestershire.
“Kent have made an approach for Chris,” Rhodes said. “But given the way he has bowled this season, there is every chance he will be offered a contract here.”
