FORMER Worcestershire and Herefordshire chief Steve Guy is the new president of the North Midlands RFU.

Guy takes over from Stuart Potts, who has completed his two-year term of office.

He has been president and chairman of the North Midlands Society of Rugby Football Referees, president of Worcestershire and Herefordshire and chairman of the North Midlands Community Rugby Committee.

Guy played for Prince Henry’s School, Evesham, and Pershore before a knee injury forced him to retire.

He then refereed as a member of the North Midlands Society for 28 years and has been a referees’ assessor for the past seven years.

Guy joined North Midlands in 2002 and initially served as match secretary to the senior county side. He also chaired Pershore for three years.

The new chairman of the North Midlands Community Rugby Committee is Droitwich’s Rob Bray.

Pershore’s Charlie Hemmings is now the North Midlands’ junior vice-president.
