WORCESTER stretched their lead over Himbleton at the top of the Worcester Evening League Division One table.

But the pick of the games was MCT’s victory over Himbleton, who elected to bat first as they were struggling for numbers.

They got off to a fine start through Paul Thomas (70) and Rio Swapail (17).

Alford saw the innings through to 142-4 by finishing on 38 not out, while MCT’s consistent Kev Price took 3-33 off three overs.

In reply, openers Jerry Owens and A Rehman shared a rapid opening stand of 61 runs off three overs.

Rehman hit 25 runs off one of Alford’s overs but Swapuil bowled well for 1-32.

Despite Himbleton starting to restrict the run-rate with Sam Jenkins claiming 2-32, MCT cruised home on 143-3 from 10 overs.

The classy J Khalid made an unbeaten 45 with a couple of overs to spare.

Worcester bowled Stoke Prior out for just 113 despite only managing 139.

Barnards Green chased down the Police’s target of 119 with 10 wickets to spare, thanks to a patient opening partnership between Mark Hooper and John Dunn, who both scored half-centuries. In Division Two, Martley won by one wicket against unbeaten leaders Domestic and General with the penultimate ball of game.

Peter Gardner’s 27 not out saw the side home in a thriller which should make the division interesting.

Rushwick Academy beat Kempsey with an outstanding effort from 15-year-old Chris Parker, who scored 28 runs off the last over to finish on 73 not out and win the game for Rushwick.

Droitwich Dons gave Worcester Academicals a lesson as they had no trouble in chalking off the 82 needed with nine wickets in hand, thanks to 53 not out from Max Young.
