KIDDERMINSTER Harriers winger David McDermott has signed up for the new season at Aggborough by penning a new one-year contract.

McDermott first joined Harriers last summer after leaving Walsall and made 29 appearances for the club in 2008-09, scoring once.

Blessed with great pace and an ability to beat defenders, McDermott was largely used as an impact sub by boss Mark Yates, but there is little doubting the youngster will be looking to make an even bigger impression this time around.

He said: “I’m pleased it has been sorted.

“If I could use one word to describe last season it would be ‘frustrating’ — so I’m really looking forward to getting a chance to show what I can do this season.

“Last time around I would have liked to have played a lot more but, whereas I sort of threw in the towel when I was at Walsall and not being played, at Kidderminster I’ve just made sure I stayed fit and knuckled down.

“In the games I played, I think I did well but I’ve got a lot more to show people.”

Harriers have also appointed Gavin Crowe as the club’s new physiotherapist. Former physio Pete Dugmore departed to join up with the RAF following the end of last season, but Yates welcomed his replacement for the first day of pre-season training yesterday.

Crowe has previously been the physio at the Cheltenham Town centre of excellence as well as working at Bishop’s Cleeve.

Yates said: “Pete was offered a fantastic opportunity to go and work for the RAF — we weren’t in a position to stand in his way nor would we have done.

“Gavin’s coming in as a fresh face with his own ideas. I know he’ll do an excellent job for us, as Pete did and as Ian Foster did before him.

“He is desperate to do well and he’ll do everything possible to keep the players out of the treatment room.”
