FOOTBALL is thriving at Christopher Whitehead Language College in Worcester.
The St John’s school’s year seven boys capped the achievements by winning the Worcestershire Under 12s Schools Cup with a 4-0 victory over Baxter College.
In addition, the year nine boys won the Worcester City League and were runners-up in the county competition, as were the year 11 side. For the girls, the under 13s and 16s reached their county semis.
Christopher Whitehead have been aided by the installation of their all-weather pitch in August 2008 which has ensured no training sessions have been cancelled.
Pitch manufacturers TigerTurf have sponsored the county champions for their next season in year eight.
Schools sports co-ordinator Laurence Helme said: “The attitude towards the new pitch here is simply incredible.
“Both students and staff take great pride in the facility and it has increased hours of play both in the school and the community by up to 70 per cent.”
