THE capacity at Hereford United’s Edgar Street ground will drop by around 2,000 next season.

Barriers at the Blackfriars Road End of the stadium failed a safety inspection, meaning that section will be closed to supporters for the 2009-10 campaign.

Fans have also been stopped from standing on the flat areas of terrace at the Meadow Road End, taking the 7,000 capacity down to 5,000.

Meanwhile, Hereford have signed central defender Darren Deenehy on loan from Cardiff City until January.

The 20-year-old former Everton trainee made three apperances on loan at United during their League One campaign but left after contracting glandular fever while on duty for the Republic of Ireland Under 21s.

Boss John Trewick has also brought in ex-West Brom custodian Chris Adamson as a goalkeeping coach and understudy to Adam Bartlett. However, Ben Smith has started pre-season training at League Two rivals Cheltenham Town and fellow midfielder Kris Taylor has had his offer of a contract withdrawn by the Bulls.
