FOOTBALLER Chelsea Weston has capped her England Under 19s career with success on the European stage.

The Worcester teenager was part of the victorious team at the UEFA European Women’s Under 19s Championship in Belarus who secured the age group’s first ever trophy.

Weston, of Warndon Villages, starred at right-back as England beat Sweden 2-0 in the final having defeated Switzerland in the semi-finals following group wins over Iceland, Norway and Sweden.

The team also went through the entire tournament and three-match qualification without conceding a goal.

The 19-year-old, playing her final match at under 19s level, had extra reason to celebrate after being in the team beaten by Germany at the same stage three years ago.

The Doncaster Belles defender, who studies at Loughborough University, said: “We are the first England team for a long time to win anything so it’s a good achievement.”

Weston now has her sights set on the under 20s World Cup in Germany next year.
