CHRIS Cornes returns to Stourport Swifts for Saturday’s home FA Trophy preliminary round clash against Hungerford Town (3pm).

The midfielder was released by the Walshes Meadow club in the summer and ended up signing for Worcester City in Blue Square South.

He then agreed a dual registration with Evesham United in the Zamaretto League Premier Division but has been re-signed by Swifts manager Neil Hunt to boost their suspension-hit squad.

Swifts, who won 2-1 at Woodford United with a depleted side in Division One Midlands last Saturday, will be without four players as their poor disciplinary record continues to bite.

Striker Wes Joyce serves the first of a two-game ban, while defender Andy Jones and midfielder Jamie Insall both serve the second of three-match suspensions.

Forward Scott Morris sits out the last of his three-game ban against the Berkshire outfit, who are 12th in Division One South and West.

Hunt remains upbeat and has been pleased with his side’s efforts in recent weeks.

He said: “The performances have been good and the results haven’t been bad.

“We lost 1-0 to Hitchin, drew 1-1 with Rothwell with nine men and lost 2-1 to Leighton with 10 men. We need something in the final third.”
