KIDDERMINSTER Harriers will be looking to silence the large crowd expected for the Blue Square Premier clash at AFC Wimbledon tomorrow (3pm).

The newly-promoted Dons have only failed to attract less than 3,500 once this season and are giving them something to shout about with their fourth-place position in the table.

Harriers go into the game on the back of an impressive 2-0 mid-week victory over Wrexham at Aggborough and are just two points and five places worse off.

Assistant manager Neil Howarth is pleased with the team’s progress and believes they can thrive on the atmosphere at Kingsmeadow.

He said: “I’m sure there will be 3,000 to 4,000 there and we will take a few as well.

“Our fans tend to make a bit of noise and it makes for a good atmosphere. It’s one of the games I used to love playing in. They have had nothing but success for a few seasons, get a big crowd and are used to winning but we can go with plenty of confidence.

“I think we have played really well in the last five games. At the moment, we are doing things right and look a half-decent team.”

Midfielder Brian Smikle and forward Robbie Matthews were on target against the Dragons, meaning Harriers have only lost once in their last six matches.

Howarth said: “It was a difficult game because they had a man sent off early on and were very defensive with the remaining men behind the ball. I think we did well breaking them down.”

Dean Bennett could be back in contention after missing the Wrexham match with a knee injury.

But fellow midfielder David McDermott is out with bruising to his leg, despite escaping serious injury following Silvio Spann’s red-card challenge on Tuesday.

Defender Martin Riley (back) and full-back Lee Baker (ankle) both had treatment this week and will be assessed before tomorrow’s trip.
