STEVE Davies has been officially placed in England's ICC Champions Trophy squad after Matt Prior was ruled out by illness.
The former Worcestershire keeper, who flew out to South Africa on Sunday after the Royals victory over Sussex Sharks, is likely to win his first one-day international cap against Australia later today in the semi-finals of the competition.
The 23-year-old gloveman, who left New Road for Surrey this autumn, made his international debut in a Twenty20 match against West Indies in March this year.
Prior missed the final two group games against South Africa and New Zealand due to a virus with Eoin Morgan deputising, but with such an important match coming up England are likely to go with a specialist keeper.
