WORCESTER Wolves will be keen to show they have the bigger bite when they face Sheffield Sharks at the University of Worcester tomorrow night (tip-off 7pm).

Having lost their opening game of the British basketball League campaign at MK Lions 94-81, new head coach Chuck Evans will be eager to orchestrate his team’s first home victory.

But the Sharks will also be keen to get off the mark having lost their opening two games against Cheshire Jets and Leicester Riders.

The clash with Sharks will also give Wolves fans the chance to see new signings Anthony Martin, Chey Chris-tie, Kenny Saunders and Randy George in action.

The quartet all made their debuts last weekend in Milton Keynes with former head coach Skouson Harker the only survivor from last season.

However, there will be no rest for Evans’ Wolves as they visit Cheshire Jets on Sunday.

“The two games will be a test for us,” the Wolves chief said. “Sheffield and Cheshire have talented and experienced players. Both games will be a good challenge to evaluate where we are at this point in the season.”

After the defeat to the Lions, the university-based side have spent the week working on their weaknesses.

“Our rebounding and free-throw shooting needs to improve and we must limit our turn-overs,” said Evans.

“I was pleased with my players effort and hope we are ready to show everyone our quality this weekend.”

Evans has pin-pointed Sharks’ new signing Mike Cook as the biggest threat after he scored 36 points in the defeat to the Riders.

But Evans added: “They have also got experienced players like Ryan Patton, Matt Gorman and Atiba Lyons who are all legitimate threats.”

Evans is also wary that his side will need to be on their mettle the following day when they head north to face the Jets.

“The Lions game was a good test for us. We learnt a lot about our team and how you must come ready to play every night in this league or you will be beaten.”

The game at Cheshire will see Wolves’ new signing Martin return to former club and Jets coach Paul Smith says he is aware of his talents.
