HEREFORD United are hoping to extend striker Craig King’s stay at the club.

King has impressed since joining on loan from Leicester City and made an immediate impact by scoring six minutes into his debut against Accrington Stanley.

The 18-year-old also featured the 4-1 defeat at Rochdale and 2-1 home victory over League Two leaders Bournemouth on Tuesday night and is expected to keep his place for today’s clash against Dagenham and Redbridge at Edgar Street.

Bulls manager John Trewick has held talks with the Foxes about keeping King and is pleased with the progress.

He said: “I’ve made enquiries about extending the loan and the discussions we’ve had with Leicester have gone very well.

“I’m very, very hopeful that he’ll be joining us for longer than a month.

“Craig is an all action player, he works really hard and that takes people’s eyes.

“But allied to that he’s an intelligent player, he knows what he’s doing on the football field.

“I think his partnership with James Walker on Tuesday showed a lot of promise and the two of them together are going to cause defenders a lot of problems.”

French striker Mathieu Manset has also committed his future to the Edgar Street club.

The Metz-born player was originally on a short-term deal until January but has now signed on a permanent basis.
