WORCESTER City FC are desperate for an FA Cup run to ease their financial woes — but manager Richard Dryden is not allowing the situation to affect him.

The St George’s Lane club, who face AFC Telford in the third qualifying round on Saturday with £7,500 on the line, continue to struggle on a day-to-day basis and a move to Nunnery Way is still far from certain.

Dryden and assistant Carl Heeley saw their budget slashed last Christmas and have been forced to work under tight restrictions this season.

Signing players has proved a struggle and they have often been priced out of the market when trying to strengthen their squad, with midfielder Rob Davies agreeing to play for nothing.

However, Dryden feels he has used the money wisely and worked within his means.

“I do feel pressure to win games and will always put pressure on myself if we haven’t won,” he said.

“On the financial side of it, I don’t feel any pressure. I think we are doing a good job.”

The manager is now plotting the downfall of Telford as City look to make it three wins in a row.

He added: “We will be prepared for them. We have had a report sent through on them, so we can have a plan.”
