EVESHAM Hockey Club began their BodyKraft Men’s West Midlands Premier Division campaign with a 2-1 defeat at Stratford.
The home side’s experience shone through and they soon opened the scoring from close range.
Evesham stepped up their efforts but they were unable to convert their chances.
The second-half started with Stratford creating more chances only to be denied by debutant keeper Alex Fraser.
The pressure eventually told as Stratford scored a second from a short corner.
Evesham were eventually rewarded for their efforts with a goal after slick passing between Stu Harris, Matt Baumber and Stuart Bearcroft led to Ben Brown’s simple tap-in.
