IT’S a little frustrating that we haven’t picked up any wins yet, but we are making significant strides in trying to turn that around.

We are using a hi-tech video analysis here at the University of Worcester and that is helping us understand more about our stats during the game.

What it does is help us make adjustments to how we play and how we can work on our weaknesses.

Using this technology helped us improve in the game at Cheshire Jets and it gave us the opportunity to play even better against Glasgow Rocks last week.

I know that we still haven’t got anything in the win column yet, but I’m confident that the fruits of our labours will soon be rewarded.

Hopefully, that will come on Saturday night when we face Essex Pirates in the BBL Cup. They are a good side with some talented English players who can hurt us.

But we are preparing properly and hopefully that will show on the court.

Unfortunately, my hunt for a replacement for Anthony Martin goes on. I came close to signing a British point guard last week, but that fell through.

There are still a couple of players that I’m looking at and hopefully one of those will come off and that will help Chey Christie and Kenny Saunders settle in. They have yet to show their full potential since joining us.

Defensively they have done well, but without a point guard they have not fully shown their capabilities offensively.

We had hoped that Anthony would be that person to help them, however, it didn’t work out.

Evaldas Zabas and Vidmantas Uzkuraitis have done well, but it is important that we get a specialist in.

In the BBL, Chey and Kenny have been up against some very good guards and it is taking them a little time to settle.

Of course, with them being American, people may expect a little more from them and hopefully that will happen when we get them some more help in the point guard position.

Randy George is getting back to full strength following his stomach virus and he is a very important player for us. He played last week against Glasgow, but you could tell that he wasn’t quite right. He is a player who will give you double-digits in the points and double-digits in the rebounds.

But, with a virus, you just can’t put a period of time on when he will be at full strength — it is not like an ankle injury where you can turn around and say that he will be fit in two weeks time.

We have to make sure that the virus is fully flushed out of his system — it can be a gruelling process.
