THE time has come for me to bring in an experienced point guard.

After releasing Anthony Martin earlier in the season I opted to give Evaldas Zabas, Vidmantas Uzkuraitis and Chey Christie the opportunity to fill in.

They have all done well but we are coming up short in games and it is time to bring someone else in.

But that means those guys will get less time on the court. I feel that I have been very honest with the players.

When I let Anthony go, I told them they had a chance to fill that gap. Maybe I shouldn’t have done that.

I have now said that a new point guard will be coming in and they unfortunately won’t get as many minutes as they have been.

Having released Kenny Saunders a short while ago, we were one overseas player short and I should soon be able to tell you about a new American point guard who is joining us.

All I can say at the moment is that he should be here in time for our next home game against Worthing Thunder a week on Sunday.

It would have been nice to have him here for this Sunday’s trip to Glasgow Rocks but we have to go through the visa process.

Last Saturday’s loss to Cheshire Jets was our first at home in four matches and you have to remember we were up against one of the top teams in our league.

We have been competing well with the teams at the top and that has been pleasing.

Yes, we are coming up short in the end, but my guys are working really hard and I do appreciate that.

We are also a young side and, when you come up against good teams like Cheshire, they take advantage of that.

We have been working hard this week to try and improve our timing, rhythm and maintaining our focus throughout matches.

The trip to Glasgow gives us a chance to rectify our away record.

We haven’t been great on the road this season, winning just once in the cup, and it is always tough when you are not at home.

The Rocks will be without their player-coach Sterling Davies as he serves a one-match ban but it is not going to be an easy game for us.

In fact, none of the matches in this league are easy.

Siman Stewart continues to impress me. He is my ‘Steady Eddie’ and you know exactly what you are going to get from him.

He is a good, solid performer and, against Cheshire, had four points and six rebounds.

Since I let Kenny go Siman has deserved his time on the court and, as long as he keeps performing, then there is no reason why he shouldn’t stay there.
