WORCESTER City manager Richard Dryden has praised the transformation of Craig Wilding and his contribution to the team.
Wilding is currently in a rich vein of form and is the club’s leading scorer after being switched from attack to midfield during the summer.
His resurgence continued against Bishop’s Stortford with a fierce free-kick which was parried by keeper Nicky Eyre and headed home by Marco Adaggio for the equaliser.
Dryden is delighted with Wilding’s efforts and believes he is growing in confidence with every game.
The City boss said: “It’s a different Craig Wilding at the moment, he’s had a good season in midfield and he’s very confident.
“He’s adapted exceptionally well in there and this time last year he probably wouldn’t have even wanted to take the free-kick.
“But he hit the target with pace, the keeper got something on it and finally we have got a centre forward who’s got into the box for a rebound.”
Dryden felt his team were worthy of the draw but knows they cannot afford to keep dropping points as the season progresses.
“It’s a point earned from 1-0 down,” he said. “We could have won it, could have lost it and I think it was another good game for a neutral but I would have loved a 1-0 win.
“Bishop’s Stortford are sixth in the league and there was nothing for us to fear. But in three months time, if we don’t start picking up wins, will a point be enough every game?
“I am pretty confident as we are still creating chances but we have got start sticking balls in the back of the net.”
He added: “The first 15 minutes we were fantastic without scoring but we got totally outplayed for the next 15 minutes, couldn’t get the ball off them and when we did we gave it away. We were disappointed with how we conceded the goal.
“Then we got back to grips with it for the last 10 to 15 minutes of the first-half.
“We got tighter in midfield, worked hard to get the ball back and created a few chances and put them under some good pressure.”
