EVESHAM United manager Paul West has warned his side to be wary of a Swindon Supermarine backlash at St George’s Lane on Saturday (3pm).

The Robins are riding high after climbing to 12th in the Zamaretto League Premier Division following back-to-back victories over Bedford Town and previously-unbeaten Cambridge City.

Next up is a home match against Supermarine, who were thrashed 7-0 by league leaders Farnborough last weekend and will be keen to consign that result to the history books.

“We are not getting carried away,” West said. “If we can put together a run of three or four wins, that would be great.

“Swindon are fighting for their lives. Their manager will be looking for a reaction after their last game so we need to be on our guard. We can’t take them lightly.”

Marcus Palmer scored twice in the 3-1 victory over Cambridge on Tuesday as United recorded their first league victory of the season on home soil.

Palmer is set to continue in attack against Swindon but fellow striker Jermaine Clarke is a doubt with a groin injury.

West added: “The first win at home was important. It was about getting the monkey off our back and to take the scalp of Cambridge was great. The best part of the last two games have been the performances.

“We have kept the ball better and have shown more quality in the last third by scoring five goals in two games. We look dangerous in attack. In this league, form can turn quickly.”

Rushall Olympic’s Michael Williams, who can play at right-back or on the wing, is set to join Evesham along with left wing-back Scott Mason from Cinderford.

However, midfielder Craig Thomas has left the club.
