KING’S School, Worcester, completed a highly succesful time at the West Midlands Schools netball tournament at Wednesbury, winning the under 14 section, finishing runners-up in the under 19 age group and third in the under 16 division.
The U14 squad of Hannah Jeavons, Charlotte Collins, Charlotte Sidaway, Holly Hudson, Florence Hershman, Poppy Doorbar, Connie Gr-ant, Corah Lewis, Hannah Brotherwood and Frances Taylor played consistent netball throughout the day. Their first match against Newcastle-under-Lyme saw a 17-4 win.
They continued their winning ways against Wolver-hampton Grammar, Bishop Walsh, Wrekin College, Wig-more High and Alderbrook with 79 goals for and 26 against.
This placed King’s in first position and a place in the semi-finals against Aldridge which they won 9-5.
They played Higham Lane in the grand final and took the crown 6-4 to become West Midlands champions and win a place at the national schools finals in March.
King’s U19 girls also clin-ched a place in the national finals but lost 11-4 to King Edward, Lichfield, in the final.
The Worcester school’s un-der 19 squad was: Anstey, Emmie Le Marchand, Beth Perry, Louise Gwilliam, Vicki Heath, Laura Stansfield, Ka-tie Wreghitt, Jessie Meikle, Beth Jeavons and Tash Linley.
The King’s under 16 squad of Katie Collins, Grace Bradley, Grace Caldicott, Im-ogen Atkins, Lauren Davies, Lucy Butterworth, George Ormandy, Jess Longley, Bec-ci Brunt and Hilary Brown won four of their seven qualifying games to finish third.
