SOUGHT-after striker Iyseden Christie has insisted he is happy at Kidderminster Harriers -- yet a transfer window departure still seems to be on the cards for the 13-goal hitman.

Christie has spoken to Rochdale boss Steve Parkin after Harriers initially accepted, and then rejected, a bid, which was believed to be in the region of £20,000.

The striker is wary of being portrayed as a mercenary holding the club to ransom, but insists he is only looking out for his family's future.

He said: "I told the manager it is a mess and he agreed but said it's not his fault. I just want to get something sorted.

"I like it at Kiddy, but at the same time if they're not prepared to give me a contract for next season or longer, I need to look elsewhere.

"At this stage of my career it's just about security and paying the mortgage and I don't really have massive ambitions where I must get back to the League. It's a case of needs must."

Parkin, thought to be weighing up a new bid for the striker, is still furious about the on-off transfer saga and insists he will get his man -- even if he has to wait until the summer. Rochdale are also believed to be interested in Harriers skipper Mark Jackson.

Parkin said: "We had a bid accepted for Iyseden on Monday, only for that to be reneged on and the price we had agreed on has now gone up.

"We are just surprised by the way they (Harriers) go about business and I'm very disappointed.

"I believe the player is out of contract at the end of the season and, if that is the case, we will save ourselves a bob or two and take him for nothing in the summer."

With their financial plight still not completely stable, Harriers are unable to match Christie's current wages next season.
