CHRISTIAN Moore's move to Kettering Town is back on as both parties re-entered talks.

The transfer-listed striker was absent from Worcester City's 3-1 pre-season defeat to Walsall as he negotiated with the Rockingham Road club.

Nationwide North rivals Kettering held discussions with Moore last month, but they declined to offer the 32-year-old a permanent deal because of concerns about his knee.

After carrying out a detailed medical, Town hoped to take the former Telford United man on trial to further assess his right knee, which required an operation last year after he ruptured anterior cruciate ligaments.

But, at the time, the offer was declined and Moore reported to pre-season training with Worcester on July 1.

He put on an impressive performance in City's opening friendly against Carlisle United last Thursday, showing plenty of pace while partnering Adam Webster.

Kettering manager Kevin Wilson was at St George's Lane to watch Moore in action in the goalless encounter.

If Moore completes his move, it will free up much-needed funds for player-manager Andy Preece to bolster his squad.

It is believed the Poppies hope to sign Moore in time for their pre-season friendly with Rushden and Diamonds tonight.

City chairman Dave Boddy said: "Christian was not at the game against Walsall because he went across to Kettering.

"They came to look at him against Carlisle and presumably liked what they saw."

Meanwhile, Worcester are confident they can beat off stiff competition for the signature of experienced defender Des Lyttle.

The 33-year-old is currently training with City and mulling over a deal offered by Preece over the weekend.

But a Nationwide Conference club are also courting Lyttle, a former St George's Lane favourite who turned out 64 times for Worcester between 1990 and 1992.

Boddy added: "We made Des an offer and he's gone away to think about it, but we are not the only club who want him.

"There's also a Conference club interested in Des and they are a full-time club. We made him our best offer and we're waiting for an answer from him."
