"THE FA Cup is synonymous with heroic achievements and Danny McDonnell's performance at the weekend will be remembered by Worcester City fans for many years to come."

Those words came from former England and West Ham legend Sir Trevor Brooking, now the FA's director of football development.

McDonnell was among City's heroes at Accrington Stanley, pulling off a series of top-drawer saves to help book last night's replay at St George's Lane.

One outstanding moment City supporters will long remember came mid-way through the second-half when Romuald Boco's bullet header, destined for the bottom corner, met its match with a magnificent tip past the post from McDonnell. It truly qualified as a world-class stop.

His performance led to his nomination for the FA Cup `Player of the Round' award, in which the 32-year-old goes head to head with Woking forward Steve Ferguson, Eastbourne Borough's Stuart Tuck, Harrogate Town captain and Chasetown striker Lee Bullimore.

If fans favourite McDonnell gains the most votes, he is guaranteed VIP attendance at the FA Cup final next May at the new Wembley stadium and will be introduced to the crowd pitch side at half-time.
