JUBILANT Herefordshire are toasting their first Minor Counties Championship three-day win since beating Wales in August 2005.

They notched a conclusive five-wicket Western Division success over Devon at Eastnor.

Steve Adshead followed up his first innings century with 86 the second time around.

Charlie Griffiths picked up 11 wickets in the match, including the first hat-trick by a Herefordshire spin bowler.

When Devon won the toss and batted, their openers made a confident start before a fine run out by Dave Exall.

Matthew Thompson scored 122 and Ian Bishop 55 in their 343 all out before both fell to Griffiths (6-77), who cleaned up the innings with a hat-trick.

Adshead, who hit 16 fours and four sixes in his 110, and Atiq Chishti (80) dominated the Herefordshire reply but the home county were left 77 runs short on first innings.

Griffiths again starred in the visitors’ second innings, picking up 5-40 as Devon were dismissed for 156, leaving Herefordshire 234 to win.

More fine batting by Adshead, with good support from Faisal Shahid (64), inspired them and Tom Austwick hit a six to seal the success.
