THE Esher back three undoubtedly breathed a collective sigh of relief at the news Warriors top-scorer Marcel Garvey is being rested this weekend.

The former Gloucester winger has scorched over for 10 tries in 13 Championship matches this term and Sixways head coach Richard Hill has handed him a well-earned break.

However, the 27-year-old former England ‘A’, sevens and under 21s international doesn’t revel in personal milestones, instead preferring to be a key cog in a winning Worcester machine.

He said: “The only target I have set is to get promotion, not tries. Myself, Miles (Benjamin) and Tom (Arscott) are all pretty close, but I get just as much pleasure setting one up as I do scoring myself.

“It is always good to get that winning habit back. We have got a lot more confidence as a team and that has helped us to score a lot more tries.”

He added: “First and foremost we have to get back in the Premiership. This league is a phoney war at the minute and we just want to get to the play-offs.

“Last year, Bristol came top and didn’t go up, which is very worrying and an example of where we don’t want to be.”
