EVESHAM United manager Paul West feels his team is more than capable of climbing the Zamaretto League Premier Division.

The Robins go into tomorrow’s home match against Chesham United (3pm) without a win in their last six league matches.

However, they drew 2-2 against Chippenham Town at St George’s Lane last Saturday and, despite letting a two-goal lead slip, West was pleased with their efforts.

The result left Evesham 18th in the table but West believes his players have the ability to improve on that position just above the relegation zone.

He said: “I have got belief in the players. We have got good enough players and there is a good spirit in the dressing room. If we keep working hard, we will get our just rewards.

“In terms of performances, I can’t be that disappointed but the results are disappointing.

“If the performances were not there, I would be concerned. We are not a million miles off and the results have been close.

“There’s a long way to go but we have to get some points on the board quickly.

“Our blueprint is to be positive and try to win games.

“The league is tight and, as far as we are concerned, we have to meet the challenge head-on.

“We have an opportunity at home tomorrow so we need to push on. We were much more positive in the last third against Chippenham.”

West has released striker Justin Nisbett and midfielder Simon Fitter, while loanee Jaime Sheldon returned to parent club Solihull Moors and is now at Leamington.
