WORCESTER Wolves are hoping for a winning finish to their 2010 home British Basketball League matches tonight when they entertain MK Lions (7pm).

In their final match of the year at their University of Worcester base, director of basketball Paul James will hope his team can sign off in style.

However, the Wolves chief admits he know very little about their opponents.

“I have not had a chance to see them much as they have only played a few games,” James said. “They have made a lot of changes to their roster since Mike New took over as coach, and seem to have some solid players.

“Rather than look at key players we’re just going to concentrate on them as a team and what we need to do to stop their scoring opportunities.”

Following the Lions clash, Wolves are set to travel to Scotland to face Glasgow Rocks tomorrow.

However, the recent plummet in temperatures and snow has put the match in doubt.

Wolves are due to set off in the early hours of tomorrow and James is hoping it won’t be a wasted journey.

But, after two solid performances on the road last weekend, a 90-79 win at Worthing Thunder before a 114-111 overtime defeat at Plymouth, James knows his team are facing a tough test.

“We got the win at Worthing and that was very important for us.

“We had five guys scoring double figures, with Callum Jones having his best game of the season, and looking really solid,” the Wolves chief said.

“Against Raiders it was another game where we had the game all but won and managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory!

“We have to get smarter down the stretch and start helping ourselves rather than gifting unnecessary opportunities to the opposition.

“Glasgow are a good team. Sterling Davis has done a good job putting them together and they have a classy point guard in EJ Harrison who runs the team very well,” he said.

But Rocks player-coach Davis is showing plenty of respect for James’ side after his team snatched a late 81-79 victory at the university in October.

He said: “They have had some tough breaks this season, including against us, which I can easily see turning into wins with the talent they have there.

“Right now Rod Middleton is starting to find his stride as well as Justin Dobbins.  “They have both really been stepping up their performances,” added Davis.
